My First Drive
I went for my first driving lesson yesterday night. Although I drive Auto tanks in camp, I still find manual car quite hard to operate. I was most uneasy about the sensitivity of the accelerator of the car. The strength on the accelerator for the car to move off is just equal to the strength of my leg placing on the accelerator! As I used to raft hard when driving tanks in camp, I "over" raft for a few times. The next difficult task was half clutch which I think I will be okay with more practices.
Today, I went to the large "deserted" land where the three gigantic stores, Giant, IKEA and Courts, are located. To my surprise, the place was packed with people and cars. We could hardly move. Anyway, the goods sold in the stores are quite similar from those which are sold in other ordinary shopping centers, or they may be just cheaper by a few cents or dollars. I think it is worthwhile to visit once for experience but not worth it for real shopping. Below pictures show some of the interesting stuff I saw..
This sale gimmick is "innovative"..
This is the DIY section of IKEA which is converted from a warehouse.

My first visit to NTU!
Haha.. I visited my future school, NTU, for the first time as a "dragon baby imposer". In fact, I saw my senior at the NTU Open House today - he is one year older than me. Hm.. people may say that I go there just take free gifts but actually, I just wanted to see my future campus. I am quite impressed by the facilities and environment of the university except it is really remote. One of the students told me when I was visiting their hostel, "It takes about half an hour from NTU to Jurong Point." This reminds me of my "dear" camp which is located at the most "ulu" place in Lim Chu Kang or may be, the whole Singapore. The shuttle bus bought us to the main exhibition hall where the NTU students gushed to give us goodies bag and leaflets of various schools. As I expected, the hall was chaotic as a fish market. Some A level-holders was accompanied by their parents!
Anyway, I think that the exhibition of the school of engineering was the most interesting to me. The picture above shows a display from the School of Material Science and Engineering. The train was able to move on the track for a few rounds just by a soft push! The most amazing part was the train was floating! Actually, it is due to the repulsion between the track and the train which was made of some special material. Cool right? There was a lot more fun stuff at the exhibition.. I have no time to write all of them down.. Haha.. I am so excited going to NTU as a MSE undergraduate! 9 months to ORD!

NTU-CO Concert..
I had been playing Day of Defeat with my buddies recently at Lan shop. The good graphics and realism of this game captures my heart - I can play this game for hours! Unlike other ordinary first person shooter game, this video game depends heavily on teamwork instead of personal skill. Hence, you can heard people shouting "cover me!" and "you take the point!" etc. In this World War II game, you get to choose to be a rifle man, a machine-gunner or a law-gunner. Each type of soldier has his own strength and weakness and they must be pieced together like a puzzle to form a powerful assault team. For example, a deployed machine-gunner will provide support fire for the rifleman to advance and sniper can hide somewhere to kill opposing force who want to back stab the support gunner. In other words, this is a fast pacing game which can provide hours of enjoyment to any avid fan of first person shooter game. Don't wait any longer, this is the game!

I went to the NTU-CO concert which was held at SCH this Saturday. It was more than a year since I been to any CO concert. I was quite touched when I saw their conductor, Huang Lau Shi, who was once also my conductor when I was a member of AJC-CO. I was enthralled by the enthusiasm and vigor he unleashed when he was conducting the orchestra. The Chinese Orchestra played beautiful melodies like The Ring Sound of the Camel Bell and Sunshine of Tashkurgan. I admit that I had a sudden urge of playing my Chinese flute again when I was listening to the wonderful music. It was a superb concert.
"Nan Da Yun Yin", that is the title of the concert.
